Last winter,
the air felt tight,
as if I’d been holding my breath too long.
My child was preparing for exams,
and I carried a quiet weight on my shoulders.
I said, “You’ll be just fine.”
But between the words,
I think I was the one who needed reassurance.
Always looking for something I could do,
some way to help.
Now, I see it differently.
Just trusting,
and simply staying close—
that would have been enough.

Even as a parent,
we don’t have to be strong all the time.
It’s okay to pause.
To breathe.
To let the quiet moments hold us.
Sometimes,
not pushing too hard
is the gentlest kind of support.
This winter,
someone else may be walking that same path—
a child carrying hopes into an exam room,
a parent quietly walking beside them.
To them, I just want to say, gently:
It’s okay.
Even if you let go,
even if you soften just a little,
spring will still come.
