The moment I arrived at Kumamoto Airport,
the first thing I noticed was the light.

The sky felt wide—
bright, open,
stretching farther than I could see.

It’s the same sky,
and yet, somehow, it feels different here.

Even the air feels lighter.

“I really like it here,”
the thought came quietly.

That evening,
we met a family we’ve known since
my daughter was just two years old.

They’ve grown a little taller,
a little older.

And still,
their laughter, their presence—
nothing had really changed.

They were simply enjoying being together,
without trying to be anything else.
Watching them,
I felt something warm settle gently inside me.

Time has passed,
and yet, not everything fades.

Some things remain—
quietly,
perhaps even more deeply than before.

Standing under this wide sky,
I felt a small space open within me.

I don’t have to rush.
I don’t have to change anything right away.

Just being here,
little by little,
I feel myself returning.

The sky in Kumamoto
welcomes you like that—
softly, and without asking anything.
