入院中
ある患者さんが
ぽつりと言っていた
There was a quiet moment
during my stay in the hospital.
手術ばかりで
体の中のものが
どんどんなくなってしまうんです
A patient nearby
murmured softly,
その言葉には
不安や悲しみがにじんでいた
“I’ve had so many surgeries…
it feels like
I’m slowly losing parts of myself.”
そのとき先生は
少しやわらかく笑って言った
There was
something heavy
in those words.
The doctor
smiled gently,
and said,
この年齢で
手術を重ねられるお体というのは
すごいことなんですよ
“At this age,
being able to go through surgery like this
is something quite remarkable.
日頃から
きちんとした生活をされているからこそ
手術ができるんです
It means your body is strong—
and that you’ve taken good care of it.”
大きなことを言っているわけではないのに
It wasn’t
a big statement.
その言葉を聞いて
その方の表情が
ほんの少しだけ変わったように見えた
And yet,
同じ出来事でも
見え方が変わると
受け取り方も少し変わる
something shifted.
そのことを
静かに教えてもらった
The patient’s expression
softened—
just a little.
Nothing had changed.
And still,
it felt different.
The way we see something
can quietly reshape
how we feel about it.
That moment
left a quiet trace in me—
a reminder
that even a single sentence
can gently change
the way the world appears.
