The day I came home
from the hospital,

退院して、
家に戻ってきた日。

Everything looked
gently familiar,
and yet,
slightly new.

いつもの景色が、
どこかやわらかく感じられた。

While I was away,
I couldn’t stop thinking—

いない間のことが、
ずっと気がかりだった。

about work,
about my children,
about everything
I had left behind.

仕事はどうなっているだろう。
子どもたちは大丈夫だろうか。

But when I returned,
I found that things
were more alright
than I had imagined.

でも、戻ってみると、
思っていたよりも、ずっと大丈夫だった。

Life had been moving on,
quietly, steadily,
in its own way.

それぞれの場所で、
それぞれに考えて、
ちゃんとやっていた。

Each of them,
in their own place,
thinking,
figuring things out,
and carrying on.

その姿に、
少し驚いて、
少し安心して、

I felt relieved—
and at the same time,
just a little left behind.

そして、少しだけ、
さみしいような気持ちにもなった。

Ah…
they are growing,
I thought.

ああ、ちゃんと成長しているんだな、と。

And there was something else
I noticed,
more deeply than before.

そしてもうひとつ、
強く感じたことがある。

To eat.
To laugh.
To sleep.

ごはんを食べること。
笑うこと。
眠ること。

Such simple things—
and yet,
how precious they are.

それが、
こんなにもありがたいことだったんだと、
あらためて気づいた。

What I once thought
was “ordinary”
was never guaranteed.

当たり前だと思っていたことは、
当たり前じゃなかった。

I had known that,
somewhere in my mind.

わかっているつもりで、
ちゃんとわかっていなかった。

But now,
I could finally feel it.

今ここにある時間を、
もう少し大切にしたいと思った。

I want to hold
these quiet moments
a little more gently.

特別なことじゃなくていい。

Nothing special—

ただ、こうして過ごせる日々を。

just these days,
as they are.
